| yea, my bad i completely misread the question
but, id say you really cant. i see alot of people saying email a contract and get them to sign, but thats never gonna hold up anywhere, so its really jus to 'look' good. its gonna be even more of a problem because alot of your customers gonna be american, so differing copyright and legal issues, and theres no real international governing body
but please dont take my advice, jus offering an opinion :D | | http://www.soundclick.com/2ndman

| well it shouldnt really be a prob, IF in anycase the beat gets REAL big, and the person purchased leasing rights. and they get signed to a major label. The label will ALWAYS need the multitrack split version. They'll need contracts and so on. If this occurs the person who bought the beat or the label will contact u and they will get u to sign there exclusive leasing rights (im saying there because, they need there preferences on the beat, if u dont agree, then they'll look into it, and change it if possiable). And its done properly, so basically, if sum ass trys gettin away wit a leased beat, then in the end there prolly gonna need to get proper rights.
But, i do however suggest. To still have leasing rights docs that u send out wit every beat u sell, (make it PDF btw). It shows how professional u are. and ALSO, im not sure if this is valid. u can write in the terms that "When the transaction of payment is made, Check, Paypal, Money Order ect. and the document of payment, will commit you to the terms of Leasing Rights..........." So basically it means that, wen u recieve the recipt of payment, u are accepting the leasing terms.
On the issue of digital signatures our WB member told be about this http://www.navori.com/ i havent tried it yet, but he said that he uses it.
Hopefully that helped, idk about if the receipt/acceptance on the terms will hold if ever involved in court. But thats the info i can give u. | | Saha Productions (Crysis) - Hiphop/Rap/RnB

| If you have your stuff copyrighted you got nothing to worry about man. Copyrightings real easy now you can do an entire collection of beats online as one collection.
http://www.copyright.gov/forms/
Now to answer your question EvG, what I do is send the contract first and state in the contract that the by going through with the Payment, they agree to the contract, and all you'd have to do is show your Credit card statements of the transaction should problems arise. Keep a hard copy of the contract as well.
I haven't had the chance to test it (thankfully) but I've asked a law student friend and he said it would most likely hold up.
2nd Man you asked me about the poor man's copyright in the UK, and I'll post the answer here so other's can see as well.
Although sending yourself work doesn't prove that you are the creator, it can be used as evidence in a case to help establish timelines.
"Note that neither registration nor sending a copy of the work to yourself show that you were the creator of the work. Keeping copies of all your drafts and any other material that shows your connection with the particular copyright material as you develop it could, however, be useful evidence if you ever have to prove that you are the author."
