Hey yall, its ya boy Saint...still working FL tryin to perfect my sound. I love music, everyday I wake with a new beat...its crazy. My recent production however required me to reproduce a chopped and screwed hook. It left me 'chopped and screwed'...I'm figuring, I would need DJ equipment to accomplish this. I hav non, so on to the next. Maybe some type of VST plug in might work...I played roun wit Auto Tune, Gsnap and Fruity vocoder to no avail. Can anyone help me out wit this?? If I could avoid expensive equipment or software that'll be great.

the screwed voice(the slowed down voice if thats what your talking about) comes from changing the pitch lower. so if you wanted to make the rapper sound like a 5 year old you would raise the pitch really high but thats not what you wanna do so put that ish loooowwww

but if you can get a copy of DSS DJ, that is exactly what you need.

basically you have 2 decks. put the same song in both decks and drag the tempo down to the same level on each side.

then you got the crossfader in the middle its a little bar that goes left to right, just switches which deck is playing more. all the way to the right is the right side only playing. half way to the right is 75 percent right 25 left playing. so what you gotta do is match up the tempo using the auto tempo deal its a button that looks like this < or > depending on which side you wana match to. match it up and make one side playing 1 beat behind the other side. slide that cross fader from left to right (preferably on snare hits but do wahtever sounds good to you) and there you have it chopped and screwed straight from texas!

it does take practice to get it right but thats all you need to kno about chopped and screwed
